The slanting shilling polypore, or Chaga, is a tree parasite found in northern Europe, as well as in Siberia, Japan, and Canada . It is recognizable as an inconspicuous, black, tuberous growth that stands out clearly from its host tree.
This mushroom forms two fruit forms : the sterile secondary fruit form , which is known as "Chaga", and the main fruit form, which forms a slanting layer of pores , from which the "Slanting Schillerporling" gets its name.
